If science says that we are constituted of molecules, which are constituted of atoms, which are constituted of quarks and such, are we beholden to subscribe to science's definitions?
If science says we are of the family of 'Great Apes', are we beholden to be apes?

Science changes as science evolves.
I love the SNL skit were Steve Martin (playing a doctor in the renaissance era) says, "...in the dark ages we would have thought that this boy was suffering from a little man in his stomach. But now we know he just needs a good bleeding".

Science just explains the how. We are beholden to nothing.
