A common theory was galaxy formation is that a supermassive black hole is at the centre of every galaxy. However one problem with this theory is that for a black hole of 105 - 109 solar masses to form this could not happen in the first billion years or so when galaxies form. An old model of star that is bigger than a Hypergiant Star. This star would be so large that the heat energy produced by the star would not be enough to counter the gravitational pull, thus the core collapses. However as the core collapses it does not blow off it's outer shell. Instead this outer shell stays around the newly formed black hole in it's centre. You now have a black hole with this massive amount of mass around it to feed and increase it's size. In this way it is believed a supermassive black hole could form in the first billion years to fit with galaxy formation.
Does anyone have more information than this or can someone correct mistakes I have made? I can't remember where I found the article on this.

Please share. And that was the sort of black hole this was theorising could happen.

What I perceived was like metal bending and buckling under water, like the hull of a massive submarine caving in, although of course I was imagining an impossibly large black hole, not a sub. It kept folding in on itself, buckling until for an instant it was not there... then it exploaded. Quote:
