A group of German scientists claim to have broken the speed of light. While this is seen frequently with electrons moving instantaneously on the nanoscale, what makes this case unique is that it was done over a very large distance, one meter.
It was done with a photon. When two prisms are connected and a photon shot through them, a detector detects information about the photon. It appears to be based off measuring the speed of light with group velocity, not the actual speed of light. It may be true, but the paper is not very detailed.
