Hey, all.
So... I've got to figure out a way to convert a couple of videos (one MOV and one MP4) to MPEG format so that my editing software can work with them. Any time I look online, I just get links to programs that are reportedly spyware. Anyone have any recommendations for reputable programs/sources? Alternately, anyone know of a low-priced editing package that can take MOV, MP4 and MPEG files as inputs? |

I use TMPGEnc 4.0 Express. It is a full featured, easy to use editing package. Highly recommended.
It is MUCH easier to use than Adobe Premiere and has a very intuitive interface. Rendering times are also quite acceptable. I see that version 5 is only $99.00 on their website. That is a great deal, considering Premiere is $799.00

I used to be up with this sort of info, but it has been a couple years.
While I come from 'all things mac' world, there are many cross platform solutions around. The one I think may work, and is free / open source is Handbrake (Windows, Mac, Linux). Here is their FAQ section. They also do discussion forum for support, and seems fairly recently updated. |

if you are looking to buy a program then i would suggest the following
Download NTI Media Maker (formerly NTI CD & DVD Maker) 9.0.1.8933 Free Trial - Powerful CD burning software with loads of features - Softpedia give the trial a go and see how you like it. i thought you asked for just a converter.

That said, I do like many freeware programs, but for the most part, freeware packages are no frills or budding works by relatively unknown programmers. In essence, you get what you pay for.

It's open source freeware funded by the federal government. Thousands of people modify it and write their own macros and plugins to do anything you could possibly imagine to an image or video. Those are free to download too. ImageJ |
