* Pacifism: Noble or Foolish?
The first section of LaVey's Satanic Bible (plagiarized from Might is Righ by Ragnar Readbeard) places quite a bit of emphasis on rejecting pacifism. Most likely this is because the Church of Satan was founded in the late 1960's in San Francisco, which at that time was hippie central. LaVey's CoS seems to have been largely a response to the hippie movement, in some ways reacting against it, while in other ways (e.g. in the Satanic Bible's chapter on "Satanic sex") carrying its ideals further.
