Just looking for comments, opinions, and viewpoints from anyone who does not identify as a follower of any religion that comes from an Abrahamic source. This would include both non-Abrahamic religions and also those who are atheists or agnostics or just non-religious. What do you think about homosexuality? Are your views of homosexuality any different from your views on heterosexuality? How do you feel about same sex marriage, adoption rights or any other related issue?

It is really none of my business, as long as both are consenting adults. This is the same with heterosexual couples.

As to marriage, I really don't care one way or another about it, because again, it is none of my business.

Love is a personal thing. I don't care if your love goes out to men, women, animals or cars..
Gays want to get married? Go for it, it appears to be the most beautifull day in your life. Want to adopt? same applies..

People get together with people --that's what people do. It makes no difference to me what genders are involved. Both homosexual and heterosexual couples are capable of making me feel comfortable or extremely uncomfortable around them.

I am in favour of marriages and adoptions, whatever the gender.

Well, I might be a bit biased being that I am gay. I have no issue with homosexuality and neither does my religion. I believe that same gender couples and parents should (and will) have the same rights as heterosexual couples and parents including, but not limited to marriage and adoptions.

I believe that homosexuals and heterosexuals are equal in every way and therefore both groups should be afforded equal rights.

I don't believe that marriage should be a political institution and so I would like each individual place of worship to decide which couples they wish to marry. I also think marriage should be stripped of its rights and these should either be forgotten entirely or reintroduced based on some other deciding factor.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by marriage being a "political institution" - can you explain further, please?

I believe that there is a distinction between marriage as a political institution and marriage as a religious institution. I feel that although they are entirely seperate institutions in the UK, there has been a large amount of confusion amongst theists because they share the same name. Currently, there are some theists who believe that the political institution should be defined in the same way as the religious institution. This is a clear violation of religious freedoms.

I feel that the easiest way to solve this problem is to abolish the political institution altogether. In the UK, this would mean a marriage would be officiated by a religious leader, not a government employee and would confer no legal benefits to those entering into it.

The legal benefits that are currently given to people who are married would then be reassessed on a case by case basis. Those that are deemed relevant and important could be granted to couples, married or not, on a different basis. If it turns out that some sort of institution is necessary in order to regulate these benefits properly then I would be in favour of a civil parnership. This would be applied for by post or over the internet and would not involve a ceremony of any kind.
