Is it a statement of fact that people who call themselves christians are of "the same faith'? (Jesus Christ, Latter-Day Saints)

The way I see it, NO two people have exactly the same faith. Certainly some have lots in common, but all faith is a matter of individual perspective. We by nature analyze information using our own past experiences, cultural and family influences, and so on, which makes every interpretation unique to some degree. The line of "same faith" is fluid.

I'm not sure it's productive to argue with other people about the whether they are a "real" (insert believer category here). Faith isn't an objective entity. It can't be. Trying to pin down labels on it is useful but not definitive.

So my conclusion is that it is not "a statement of fact that people who call themselves christians are of 'the same faith'." It is a statement of faith, and one not provable or disprovable as fact.

First off, the Tenach is not a basis for Jesus Christ.

Second, the Gospels were spoken before they were ever written.

Ergo, our knowledge of Jesus Christ, his life and teachings, did not come from the Bible and nowhere else.

Much of what we know did get recorded in the New Testament, but I see no evidence to believe that everything was written down.

As for your question in the thread title, in general yes.

As long as they look to Jesus for their teaching, seems like it would be silly to call them anything but Christians. What else would they be? Buddhists?

No, I don't think that everyone who claims to be a Christian is of the same faith. If so, it is only by the grace of God, who would recognize all of our faith in Christ as one Church, despite our petty squabbling over Scripture, liturgy, and theology/philosophy. The Christian faith of the Bible was lost with Constantine, forgotten with the anti-Nichene fathers, the West and East broke up and fought various wars, the Reformers created a new religion, and now we're left with all kinds of wackos.
