What is "you" changes every day.

Existence is the quality of "being" or "beingness"; essence is the substance of existence, or "what exists". So the question becomes "does beingness precede your being," and of course the answer is "neither precedes the other." Once you be, there you are.

In other words, existence is essence. And also the reason I find the thread revealing.

I wouldn't say "of course", see the first post for classic examples of existential thought, maybe there is no automatic essense, i.e. you have to create your own.

Yeah; I don't get Kierkegaard. Never have. I like Sartre, but I would say rather that Man not only brings himself into being, but the formed world, too (i.e. the physical body, the mental entity and everything "outside" it, etc).

Of course it does, my awareness of "self" continues to expand and I don't see that ever ceasing. So, your point is?

I have no idea what you are asking. Is it important?

This is an old philosophical question which basically asks which came first, the fact that your are, or "what" you are. For those who believe in reincarnation, and possibly the spirit world, essence may well come before existence. Most people think that "what" you are is developed after you come into existence.
