Ourth 5th Article of Faith:
5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.


This is where Authority is a neccesity, it is an Authorization to act or speak in God's name.

Authority is only a necessity for your Article of Faith, and it is a clear departure from scripture.

We are to be known by our love. Nothing more and surely nothing less. Surely not some man made articles of faith. Thought you should know.

how? when i clearly posted the scripture to back it up? do you interpit the scripture to mean something else?

If that is the case then we have no common ground on this matter and hence is Moot trying to discuss it further.

The scriptures you quoted did not back up a need for some earthly authority.

Jesus is the only REAL authority... and we know his will as we are led by the Spirit.

Matthew 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. NIV

Yeah. We put too much stock in an earthly authority and FORGET about the Spirit. Let the Spirit guide you. He has the mind of Christ!

But the priesthood is not an earthly authority. It is the authority by which God rules the universe. Only through His authority can we perform actions that have an impact in the eternities.

Jesus is the High Priest.

Hebrews 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
