I would like to ask the Evangelial Christians here how they KNOW that they are saved.
Thanks. ![]() |

What constitutes an "Evangelical Christian" for purposes of this thread?

Quote:
"Evangelical Christian" = A Protestant Christian often referred to as "born-again." Is that sufficient? |

The confirmation of the Holy Spirit. But I have always found this to not be very helpful previously when I was unsure of my own salvation. If you don't have that confirmation, then you also don't know how you will know if you did have it. I can only say that it is common to have doubts at first, but sticking with it will eventually remove them.

There is not really an explanation that I can give. I'm sorry, I realize this is of little help if this is a question that you need answered personally. All that I can really say is that I was unsure of my salvation for a long time after I accepted Christ, but no longer. I could describe no defining moment when it changed, but I remember questioning my salvation very often back then.

I believe in my heart Jesus died for my sins.
I confess he is my SAVIOR and LORD. I have the evidence of speaking in tounges for the Holy Spirit. I think salvation is personal. which means I think we only can know for sure if we are saved ( i knew when i wasn't saved that something was wrong, but when i got saved I knew i was saved), but I can't judge if your saved or not. God will be the ultimate judge. |

Perhaps James shed the best light on the subject. We are saved by grace, but we should perform a fruit inspection. If you have not bared fruit, were you truly saved? Anyone filled with the holy spirit cannot help but have works. Works do not get you into heaven alone. Grace is what saves the Christian, works are the by-product. No by-product, no initial product. Words alone do not save a person. It has to happen in your heart. You have to allow the Holy Ghost to enter your heart. Once this happens, the rest is easy.
People shun religion because they see imperfect Christians. We are not perfect. Not even close as some of you might have noticed. We are just forgiven for our sins. It is all about getting your name written in the Lamb's book of life. People get hung up on Judgement. It's all about the book of life. Once your name is written there, you will see heaven, you don't have to sweat judgement. No person no matter how great their works and close to perfect life will pass judgement. Our best works are but filthy rags before our Lord and Savior.
