Christians only... Justification of ANY war of aggression. (Jesus, blood)

So how do they do it? How do they jump from "Love your neighbor" and "Turn the other Cheek" to invading Iraq? HOW or WHY do they mutilate scriptures and support the hate and the bloodshed.

I agree that war should be avoided at all cost but I also believe that there are times when war is justifiable. To say that going to war is always wrong is, IMO, not being realistic. There are some evils that you need to stood up against and turning the other cheek just won't suffice. Given the situation in Iran I'm honestly not sure what should be done. The best we can do is pray that God is putting those in a leadership position within our country that are acting for the good of the country and earnestly seeking His will before making decisions. The decisions our leaders have to face in this day of age are probably more critical than every before since not only do they affect the U.S. but the whole world. Globalization.....ain't it grand?

The war in Iraq isn't actually a religious war. It is supposedly a war against terrorists. But in reality it is a war about control of oil. Jesus would not approve of this war, imo.

The bottom line I suppose is the seperation of church and state. As long as the church is connected with the state, the church will have to support war, because war is what creates and sustains the integrity of the state.

I don't know that I buy this. Aggression should be a thing of the past. It's time that swords and bombs are beaten into plows.

I agree that it should be. But I'm not only talking about agression, I'm talking about defense, too. As long as there are states, there will be war... and as long as the church is interested in affairs of state, it will support the wars of the state.
