But the atonement--Christ taking upon himself our sins and suffering thus allowing us to be able to return to God, mostly took place in Gethsemane. The Bible really doesn't give the full picture of what happened there. This is were he suffered for our sins. This is where he literally bled through the pores of his skin. This was so physically and mentally traumatic that no mortal could have lived through it. This was the "cup" he wanted passed from him, but was willing to do it nevertheless. His death on the cross finished it. He was willing to do this out of love for us. God had to watch his son suffer and die, because it was necessary to save all of mankind. How horrible, yet how wonderful. We owe him everything. |

That was not an LDS opinion but my own. And I do agree with you about the trauma Jesus went through. The bible does give a good picture of all that Jesus was accomplishing that one day, mainly in the book of Revelation, which is about Jesus. He was telling John while on the island of Potmos about the things which must "Shortly" come to happen, that is why John is seen as looking behind him to hear the message. Peace>>>AJ
