You're assuming something that is not necessarily true for the group you have singled out. You're also forgetting that the "I'll stick to what God has said about himself, rather than trying to make up my own ideas about what God is like" approach is, likewise, one's interpretation of "what God is like."

The Bible has not lasted because it is true. It has lasted because it contains multiple interpretations.

I find your post here rather offensive, in that you appear to judge those of us who do not espouse a literalistic hermeneutic, and you have concluded that our Christian nature is somehow in doubt or in question. However, regardless of your opinion, Christ always chooses love, grace, mercy, forgearance and tolerance. So do I.

I still can't vote because you haven't answered my question.

I don't think that it contains multiple interpretations. It has ben subjected to multiple interpretations, giving it meaning to the reader. More precisely stated I think, "It has lasted because it has been interpreted differently..." or similar.

Wonderful statement.

Thank you for the above post. I am so tired of dealing with fundamentalists -- or literalists -- both online and in person, that I rarely respond to their feeble accusations, threats, or snide comments anymore.

Are you saying the word of God is not to be taken as literal and anyone who takes that way are fundamentalists.

Jhn 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Truth is not confirmed by the reading of scripture ,but through the Holy Ghost
Jhn 16:13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
