According to Dzogchen lore, the attainment of the Rainbow Body (Tibetan ‘ja lus) is the sign of complete realisation of the Dzogchen view. As Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche (2002: p.141) states: “The realised Dzogchen practitioner, no longer deluded by apparent substantiality or dualism such as mind and matter, releases the energy of the elements that compose the physical body at the time of death”. (NB: original not meta-enhanced.)


Or more specifically, the Rainbow Body is constituted by the Five Pure LIghts. When the view of Dzogchen and the integrity of the mindstream which links the Trikaya is realised prior to the death-Bardo (Tibetan bar do; Sanskrit antarabhava), the bodymind of the Nirmanakaya (Tibetan sprul sku; Sanskrit nirmanakaya) Dzogchenpa enters samadhi ting nge ‘dzin; Sanskrit samadhi) and commences Phowa‘pho ba) or the ‘transferral of consciousness’ into the constituent Five Pure Lights of the Sambhogakaya (Tibetan longs sku; Sanskrit sambhogakaya) to the Dharmakaya, sometimes leaving the non-living faecal elements of the bodymind such as hair and nails.


There have been a number of documented sightings of the Jalus process through the Bardo of death which may take a number of days to complete. The bodymind of the Nirmanakaya in samadhi, all the time decreasing its dimentionality as the constituent Five Pure Lights of the mindstream are transmuted into the 'glorious body' of Sambhogakaya.

Okay, assume for one moment that you do go to "Heaven" right after death. Now ask yourself this...would you appreciate being yanked back after spending so much, yet so little, time there? How is that fair to the dead? Death is supposed to be a rest, a reprieve from the harsh realities of the living. Pulling someone back from Heaven would be akin to taking them out of their warm comfortable bed while sleeping and throwing them into freezing water in the middle of the Artic Ocean and told to swim. Why should the dead be brought back to make the living feel better?

Mister T, I'll try to give a little bit of a different answer, I think everybody covered about all the other bases.

Back b4 Christ died it was a different dispensation, (Salvation by faith and works)when Christ started his ministry he came doing "signs and wonders" to prove who he was. He was turned down and crucified. When he died on the cross, his blood paid the price for sin - So started a different dispensation. (Salvation by faith and nothing else) "signs and wonders" aren't required anymore.

Yeah, I agree, I don't know why he did it this way. I do know his way is the best way tho.

That is the simplest way I can explain it from my perspective. Hopefully it helps a little. Remember all things do work together for good to them that love God.

Because the living are in utter agony and despair. Im sure the dead persons daughter, wouldn't mind him hanging around for a few more years until she is at an age she could remember and actually have a clear, recollection of her father.

I apperciate your answer and have thought about what you're trying to get at. My only problem is that in this day and age, there is a decent case against God. I would say more so now, than when Jesus was around, because we have eliminated a lot of superstition that was present at that time. And that God (or whomever you want to call him/it) should help his followers diminishing faith. I couldn't think of a more profound miracle.

I think that happen to Paul, He was stoned to death and the Lord sent him back. That might explain why he was a little reckless. After seeing glory he couldn't wait to get back.
