My mother lives in Moab and spaks of something called "Jack" Mormons. Can someone tell me what this means. It sounds a bit like a mildly practicing believer. Sort of a Christmas and Easter type.

Immediately, 2 conflicting definitions come to mind. I'm not sure which it is.
1 - Someone who is not a member of the church but might as well be (lives the same kind of lifestyle). 2 - Someone who is a member of the church but does not live the lifestyle. Like I said, these can't both be right. I'll see what I can find ![]()

Looks like I may have been at least partly right in both cases

Well, I've heard the term all my life and to me it has always meant a person who is LDS in name only. We generally baptize children when they reach the age of eight. When a person reaches adulthood and no longer is interested in practicing the religion (but probably doesn't really have anything against it either), we say he is a Jack Mormon.

That is pretty much the impression I got of what the term meant.
