here goes:I think he meant what he said, there is a lot of truth revealed in scriptures that LDS are not grasping. In other words, there is a ton of stuff sitting there in the standard works just waiting for us to learn if we would simply read it with the Spirit and COMPREHEND. Most LDS don't know their doctrine from their you know what, and it shows. I have heard the most retarded things from the pulpit, in the classroom and, um, other places. I hear retarded things from my parents, friend and neighbors too. I think the way President Benson said it was about as nice as it could be said. A few weeks ago, I had to argue with a visiting stake representative AND my Bishop to prove that the Atonement is Infinite. How retarded is that? Granted this is Alabama and our bishop is brand new but come on! NOW. Before you all get angry and say "oh he thinks he is so smart and thinks he knows everything." Let me say, I do not think I am so smart and I do not know very much at all. I think I have a basic understanding of the gospel, unfortunately, many people do not have even a basic understanding. I am just giving my opinion and I don't mind if you don't like it. After you get angry about it, maybe you will think about it, and maybe not.

I think we are doing better as a whole, but there are many things we need to learn, which are plainly written in scripture.
We read the scriptures but don't understand half of it... Like for instance the Gulf War is plainly written in scripture/Revelation and we can discern other signs of the times by consulting various other scriptures. There are things we misunderstand like Christ dying on Friday and resurrecting on Sunday, when in actuality he died on Passover Wednesday at 3pm and was resurrected no sooner than 3pm on Saturday, that being the three full day mark, and appeared to Mary before sunrise on Sunday. If he had died on Thursday or Friday at 3pm then Sunday, before sunrise, would not have been three full days. Misconceptions/misunderstandings like that bug me, so I search out the truth in scriptures myself, since I don't seem to be able to find the correct answers I'm looking for from other various sources sometimes. I later found out my deduction was correct and there was another on the net who had figured it out too. Very obscure finding, but plainly written in scripture you just have to consult Leviticus to find out all the various holy convocations/Sabbaths the Jews celebrated and Christ clearly died on a Passover Sabbath, which fell on a Wednesday that year. There's lots of good stuff like that in scripture which escapes our understanding when just casually reading or glossing over scripture... Last edited by FFH; 02-20-2007 at 09:11 AM. |

He was in another ward that met in the same building we did and I saw him once with one of his kids/daughters, she was sooo cute. Lex is the greatest in my opinion. What was that other play he did along those same lines, it's slipped my mind. My mother took us to the original showing of "Saturday's Warriors" back in the 70's and she never did stuff like that before or after, although I don't remember much of the play because I was so young, but I do remember the sound of the original singers and they were soooo good. I was maybe around 7 or 8 or so. The updated video version is okay, but not as good as the original. I know one of the girls in that video she's just a few years younger than me and a convert to the church. Her best friend also converted and married one of my best friends. I think you can still get the original soundtrack which sounds much better than the newer version... Last edited by FFH; 02-20-2007 at 09:36 AM. |
