Being truly sorry is not all that is needed to get into heaven, Gods justice must be served - he dosnt just let sin go unpunished. Hence the need for Christs sacrifice which made atonement for those who would truly repent and trust in him.

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished- he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Romans 3:22-26

Also its hard to believe that someone who lives there whole life with the intention of "being truly sorry" for their sin just befor their death, will actually be truly sorry for the things they have done.
Another thing to keep in mind is that none of us know when our time is up, we are not guaranteed tomorow. I bet most of the people who died yesterday didnt expect it to be their last day.

I have often viewed Hell as being trapped with all the regrets of not doing what God wanted in life. All the would have's, could have's etc. Forever. Although for many people, being in Hell forever seems harsh after such a short life as this. We dont have any say in the matter. We are all responsible for our own actions, and God will determine what the consequences shall be. Let His Will be done.

Here, let me put you the things plain and simply, steve recalls that we dont know when our time is up, thats true, but we dont know if theres somenthing more after life either, so heres for all, Heaven and Hell are here on earth, your choices really decide which you get not after life, but instead in your life right here and now, and your life right now is the only thing you are truly aware of...
This can look like a lack of faith, and it is so, at least faith into the story they sell in churchs. My advise is not to live afraid of sinning, just live, its like that passage of the bible that talks about the master that gave coins to 3 guys and told them to keep them, 2 made more coins and the other one just buried it, then the master got dissapointed, its just like that, do what you wanna you will surely get somenthing good from it.

As such, it has come and gone a number of times already. . . .

Abdul-Baha said this about Judgement . . .

In these times thanksgiving for the bounty of the Merciful One consists in the illumination of the heart and the feeling of the soul. This is the reality of thanksgiving. But, although offering thanks through speech or writings is approvable, yet, in comparison with that, it is but unreal, for the foundation is spiritual feelings and merciful sentiments. I hope that you may be favored therewith. But the lack of capacity and merit in the Day of Judgement does not prevent one from bounty and generosity, for it is the day of grace and not justice, and to give every one his due is justice. Consequently, do not look upon thy capacity, nay, rather, look upon the infinite grace of the Bounty of ABHA whose grace is comprehending and whose bounty is perfect.

So, according to Abdul-Baha, judgement day is a good thing, and not bad.
