Christian: does god hate sin? (Jesus, eternity, sinned, verse)

MOD POST: I cannot tell if the last three posters are Christian or not because yall did not label your religion so I am just gonna ask. This debate is under same faith debates which means only Christians should be posting. If you posted here and are not a Christians could you please delete your post and refrain from further postings in this thread? zson, it's not that we have no sin, most of us sin every day. Christ died for our sins, It's the only way we believe we can have a complete fellowship with God. Religions very on this. Some think that's all that is needed. Others believe that you must have 'works' while others believe that most will make heaven, but you will be servants to them because you are not of the same religion as they.

why does he hate them all equally? i was thinking on this the whole weekend and i dont know why, but i just thought id post my thoughts and see what people think

different sins affect us and the world around us in different ways, so surely it must only be right to judge each sin independantly as appose to judging them all as "equally evil"

heres my thought, what if god doesnt care about the individual sins!

what i mean is, sins affect our relationship with god, so what if god is more upset and dissapointed by us becoming distant from him through sins as appose to he hates the actual sins themselves

its just a thought i had, but it doesnt stand its ground for long in a debate, i can see many flaws in - for one is would show that god doesnt mind things like murder and rape - but its a thought that kept me intruiged for a weekend so i thought id share it

Satans fall was of pride. people see sin as the big picture. but sins and transgressions mean nothing more than an offense. you must think of what the offense is. sin is a broad topic, that is why it was hard for you to understand any equivelancy in it. but the truth is their is only one sin. pride. pride is evil. and in my theological beliefs it is the root of all sin. over the thousands of years sin has been molded and crested into new shapes and sizes, but it is still made of the same material. this particular theological view can be greatly expanded on, but this is made simple for your convenience. God will not ask you to justify your sins on judgement day. He may or may not ask you why you did it, but bottom line you're not going to be able to repent of your sins before God on judgement day. The penalty for all sins is the same: death. The only sin above other sins is sin against the holy spirit. God hates all other sin equally.

Remember Paul, who was responsible for the death of many christians before he became a christian himself.

Right on!!

All sin(s) prevent us from being who we should be "in Christ" as followers of Jesus. All sin(s) eventually will bring ruin to our relationship with God and others, so I can see why someone would say that God "hates" all "sins" "equally."

However, as a matter of common sense we know that there is a wide variety of destruction that certain sin(s) can bring in a person's life, making it reasonable to think that God "hates" a sin with regard to how much destruction a particular sin brings in the lives of people.

IMHO, it sounds like the leader doesn't care about this issue. Rather, the speaker was trying to keep young people from commiting more "minor" "sins" like drinking, lust, etc etc by putting these piccodellos on the same level as murder, etc. The tool is nothing less than fear. The speaker wants you to reason, "God hates this 'sin' just as much as murder (and the like)," therefore, I won't do what the speaker says is a 'sin.'

It might be more productive to concentrate on commands that are positively advocated by Christ. Love your neighbor as yourself and love the Lord - in doing these, you will fulfill the law and the prophets.
