Well some may see it as extreme, the Catholic church has long upset the Evangelicals anyway because of many of its traditions and teachings. But then , why have a Catholic Catechism if it is not applied, in the strictest sense at all ?

Hi there..
Don't want to put words in your mouth but are you saying that the priest is only following the Cathecism?

Well, I'm at a loss. What is a 'Christian' funeral? Does it mean a person of 'faith' isn't allowed to perform a presentation at a funeral of an unbeliever? or one perhaps who is a believer 'struggling' with sin?
I would think that any church representative would perform a funeral that would uplift the attendees and somewhere, within the event, preach the gospel, but not necessarily pretend that the person was 'sinless' but a 'hopeful sermon' for those dead (do we know who God saves?) and those who are wondering about their own future - what an opportunity to lead the way! (especially for Americans who remove themselves so far from 'death' in these times) If we are all going to
Hell or Heaven, what would you suggest for a funeral? Too much moderation doesn't make sense.
