Allow me to ask a question if I may, NetDoc.
Do you believe that musical instruments should be used in the worship service?

"Should" or "can"?
I enjoy the a'capella tradition, but it's just that. A tradition that many have made into a doctrine. |

I see. At any rate my take on it is this: We must worship the Lord in exactly the manner He has prescribed for us. I don't see the lack of a commandment as authority for anything.
Look at Nadab and Abihu, Aaron's sons. They offered strange fire before the LORD and they were killed for it. THey knew what God commanded them to do, but they went ahead and did something else that they thought would please God. That story tells me that If there is neither a commandment for nor example of it, we musn't do it. But that's just me. What do you think NetDoc?

***MOD POST***
Ladies and gentlemen, please stay on topic. This is about Worship Teams, not the role of women. If someone says something that you disagree with or find offensive, please PM them instead of doing it in this thread! You may also report it.

Matthew 26:6. While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, 7 a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. 8 When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked. 9 "This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor." 10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me.
I have learned a TON about true worship from this passage. Nowhere did Jesus command ANYONE to worship him in the way this woman did. Yet look at his responce! It was lavish, her VERY BEST, unexpected, done in the open and obviously offended a few people. It appears to me that while Jesus has abolished the "law", man has done his best to reinstate it with his own. There are just a few things that have been set in stone, and most of those are done to demonstrate our humility towards God and our brothers. |

Speaking in tongues is the only true form of worship.

Really we don't even have "scriptural authority" for one song leader. But all churches I know of have someone start/lead the songs.

People in the Bible worshipped with instruments, but really, worship is of the heart. God knows if you are truly worshipping and praising him from the heart or not. We tend to become to legalistic about things like this. I think its great that people will at least attempt to worship God in any way they can. As long as it is decent and in order, and is motivated by our gratefulness and love to God for his free gift of eternal life, play whatever instruments you want.
