A friend who I otherwise respect and admire, says there is no historical reference to anyone named Jesus made in any historical documents written prior to 325 AD. I disagreed but can't find any.
Can anyone help me out here, please? |

Your friend should be embarrassed. See Historicity of Jesus.

... or delight in being corrected...
It's easy to be wrong when you're talking about something which you obviously don't know anything...

I've read it, all of it, and everything else I can find, but the answer to my question eludes me - what writer (before 325), mentioned Jesus by name? The "scrolls" I've been referred to all turned out to be tiny scraps, without mentioning Him.
Maybe I'm wrong but it seems a simple enough question to me. |

You would have found Josephus' mentioning of Jesus - not to mention all of the early Christian writings (like the Gospels and beyond).
