Does anyone know of any kid friendly religious educational books or movies? I am looking to broadly educate my daughter...and I have been considering (still) taking her to a UU place of worship that is nearby...I only have her for 1 weekend a month (maybe 2 if it is a long month) and the kids classes are on sunday ....so I am looking for kid friendly stuff on evey religion I can finb but all I seem to find are ones based on Christian teachings. I do not agree with a lot of what the the Judeo-Christian and Islamic religions teach and I feel like I need to balance what she is learning with her father so that she sees that a lot of the things the church they go to are not necessarily universal truth. I need help to teach her because my own knowledge is limited and she tends to pay more attention to things if they are 'official' (like if I say 2+2=4 she might believe me but if her teacher says it it has more substance simply because it is a teacher saying so and a teacher is neutral territory-ie: not mom or dad)
I don't know if that last made much sense, but I can't think of any other way to explain it right now... Maybe spiritual education would be a better way of putting it rather than religoius education. Must be kid friendly, she reads/comprehends at about a 5th grade level. Thanks. ![]() |

Well start with what you know and are interested in religion or spirtual wise.
Read on some information yourself and simply talk about it openly. Books and dvd's are o.k. but true interaction with just you and your daughter would be best. |

Have you ever seen The Prince of Egypt? I think that would work for some liberal Old Testament learning... I say liberal because the creaters used a bit of their creative licence. It's still good though.

the above seems like a good find, perhaps. and there are many books out there with lots of photos (my favorite), which may be helpful if your daughter relates well to images (visual learner) rather than long strands of text. ![]()
