Nate I was reading that today too. I wonder what happened to the co-conspirators. Why wasn't the church named or the organization held liable?

I don't know. My best guess is that the church ceased to exist after the leader was imprisoned and any co-conspirators were not held responsible due to defense of insanity (being subject to the leader's mind control tactics).

Perhaps also the followers testified against the leader in exchange for immunity and privacy.

wiki says he was a break off from the morman church. So is this church which gives a testimonial by Ron Luff who was part of the murder but never convicted. Might be coincendence and might be the same church with new leaders. Interstingly if you go to the main page of the church(footnote at bottom) the link to Ron Luff is not on the cover page. I had to google his name to find access of it on the webpage. In addition the church Lungren belonged to is not named. Only that he broke off from the LDS. Wiki says he broke off from RCJ LDS but interestingly Luff did not. He obviously wasn't a "lone wolf" He had a bunch of people with them who remain anonamous and apparenlty unconvicted of any crime.

I believe he was a RLDS, now community of Christ. That was a break-off more then 100-years ago from the main group of LDS.
