This makes me sad.
The only things these girls are guilty of are being young, curious, and possessing a free will. Then they are coerced into deception, surgery and shame for the sake of "family honor."

I wonder how many of these Muslim men who demand virgins are actually virgins themselves.

Besides, the hymen may break of perfectly normal reasons withou sex being involved in any ways, thus a broken hymen are in no way an evidence of a lost virginity. On the other hand I don't see any real reasons why virginity are at all important, I just don't see the point. I am not advocating free sex here, just that it shouldn't be a disaster if a teenager had sex a couple of times. The real problems comes rather from things like:

*Teenage pregnancies
*STD
*Forced sexual relations. Not really rape but it's bad if a person are "expected" to have sex to "fit in". Teenagers may feel the preassure to agree.
*Rape'

But if the person in question already had sex and nothing bad came out of it then no harm done I say.
