i watched the trailer for the movie and it seems as though the 'satanic art' is mainly elbows and stones looking a bit like gargoyles and three sixes in a vine - give me three weeks and a scholarship and i'll find several examples of similar 'embedded satanic messages' in any art tradition.

fun stuff though, i'll try to get a hold of the whole movie - i love conspiracy theories.

There are still some old catholic churches that have gargoyles. It's intent was to show the ugliness of of sin; the external may appear ugly. But once you step into the church, there is beauty and purity. Basically sending the message that what matters is what's on the inside.

I think you are exactly right Victor. Interestingly, I believe there is nearly as much interest in the dark side of life as exists for the brighter side. I'm certainly a fan.

Their theories are crap. Looking at art doesn't provoke people to sexually abuse children. The broken cross or swastika is an ancient symbol from many cultures that had no original connection with the Christian conception of Satan. The number of the beast was in dispute last time I checked. Phallic imagery is as old as humanity itself, and does not necessarily have any sinister connotations... As far as horror goes, well, duh! How long has the Church in its various incarnations used scare tactics as a deterrant? Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, anyone? These people are just trying to profit off the victims of a few deviants who managed to slease their way into the church.

There is though, a thought I try to push to the back of my mind............

That one which says that the more Society is exposed to the lurid, vulgar and crude, the more de-sensitized people become. (slightly off topic) - there are quite a few recorded cases of pedophile policemen, who have had to sift through the contents of computers, to look at vile evidence; I wonder if, after a while, Sadly they come to accept it ?

Michel... It seems to me that the depraved are seeking positions of power over their intended prey and ease of access to that which they seek. The fault rests on the perpetrator.
