Opponents say the legislation takes advantage of lingering stigma and will deter parents from seeking help for their children.
TALLAHASSEE - Legislation backed by an offshoot of the Church of Scientology aims to discourage public school students from seeking mental health services. The measure would require schools to tell parents that any mental health treatment would be part of a student-s per http://www.religionnewsblog.com/10857

Actually Michael scientology rejects the field of psychology in lew of their own "auditing" and while I don't know the scope of it members of that faith are either strongly discouraged or not permitted to work interact or accept services for MHMR, pshychologist, psychiatrists or any other "head doctors". It is hard to pin down what their exact policy is because apparently divulging their religion is considered not cool either. If you ever get a chance to read about it though it is quite an interesting take on religion. What they are willing to share that is or de-converted scientologists who blast the religion on the net. I have read a couple hundred pages (which I dismiss as rubbish) and interestingly the word God is not in the literature. But the structure of the organization is very much monotheistic in design. The religion was started by sci--fi author L Ron Hubbard who is famous for amoung other works, "Battlefield Earth".

I actually came in contact with these people, where I live. They called themselves 'Dianetics' at the time, and would stand around in public places, handing out leaflets. The leaflets contained a very long list of questions - and I soon came to realize that the questions were aimed at receiving the type of answer they were looking for - the type that indicated that the person's life was lacking in any form of achievement.
I actually 'went along' with it, to see what would happen. When I finished replying to the 200 questions (or so), one of their people led me to a shop which they had rented. There, there were five or six of them, and they 'pounced' on me, telling me that they could help me increase my confidence, get a new job etc. Had I been an easy target, I would not have got away without buying a book from them for the equivalent of US$40. They became such a 'pest' that they were banned from the main street of the town. What was even more interesting was that the bank for which I worked had the account. Large sums flowed in quickly, then was quietly transferred overseas - most likely the States - I can't remember. But when the bills came in, there was no cash. They disappeared, and set themselves up in a nearby town - exactly the same stunts, same m.o. I saw them as a 'cult' (The derogatery definition) - they actually frightened me. ![]()
