I am a buddhist.
I am actually 18 now. When i was younger at 12-14 life was not very well. So a few times i cried at night saying stuff to myself like,If life could be better the devil can take my soul,Of course i was young and stupid,And i didnt even know what the devil was really called until i grew up and learn of the names. I guess the movies affects people. I am worried i might be stupid enough to actually have sold my soul,So can you accidentally sell your soul by just saying and wishing that life could be better and you wouldnt mind giving it to the devil,Without even knowing what the devil is called?? I know i am quite stupid to start a topic liek this and i dont even know if i posted this in the right section. But to accidentally sell my soul i would have had to perform some ritual and chant some stuff right?? Not just by saying it. so is it possible that i still havent sold my soul accidentally? ![]() ![]() Just need to put my mind at ease,I wasnt a religious person,But i started to believe in buddha more and more as i grew closer to my religion. |

There is nothing that you need to worry about. Stating a simply phrase such as you did will not result in your soul being sold.

I just punched the devil in the face and stole your soul back. Here you go.

So basically you cant sell your soul by just saying stupid stuff like. You want to sell it to satan? Thats a relieve.I have faith in my god,and thats all that matters now. Last edited by worried1932; 03-13-2010 at 12:38 AM.. |

Dear worried1932, welcome to RF.
You need not be worried for all of us have spoken and acted in foolish and unwise ways in out youth, nay...many of us even into old age, and yet all souls have the same potential in this life to be liberated from the wheel of suffering, i.e. reincarnation/karma. Blessings with you always, and may you go forward with confidence that the past like the future is not important, it is only the now where everything unfolds. P.S. You may consider a new user name some time? ![]()

In non-absolute terms, let me put it this way. Satan is as real as you make him. The emotional baggage behind the belief is the key. 2. The soul is not a thing, like a car, that you can sell to another. The game doesn't work that way. In non-absolute terms, once again, we are back to beliefs. It depends entirely on how deeply one believes in the validity of such an action. It is the belief of the individual and the emotional investment in that belief that will determine the outcome. Try to appreciate that you do not exist in a universe that is out to get you and that you are quite safe within your personal reality. If you feel unsafe, for any reason, it might be wise to seek an accredited professional counselor.

Don't worry, you still have it - it's not something you can sell or give away.

I came across a story of a Buddhist Monk ( or a Hindu Swami, no matter ) who had a dream that he was being strangled by the devil. He woke up and his own hands were around his throat. All of our angels and demons are inside of us.

Your soul is your very self. The Devil is not real.
And Buddhists don't even believe in the soul. Don't worry too much, you're fine.
