This is mainly directed at believers in God.
After the Haiti earthquake in which 220,000 people lost their lives through no fault of their own, does your God not exist? If your God exists how could he allow that to happen? Have you lost your faith? Silver ![]() |

My God died 220,000 times that day, and still exists.

Nice answer Wilamena!
I see no seperation between Creator (God) and creation. It is for God to take and for God to give. |

How do we know that those deaths were not part of a God' or Goddess' plan? Not all of us mourn death. It happens for a reason.

Death is a part of life. Yes, hundreds of thousands of humans lost their lives that day at no fault of their own. So did many animals who are not included in the body count. Several animals frequently lose their lives at no fault of their own.
It's just the way things work. I continue to believe in God, because I don't believe God to be a wholly separate entity at all, capable of suspending the laws of nature, for I believe that those laws are part of God, and have been there eternally with God.

Do you worry that this sort of mindset could lead to complacency? I mean, doesn't the conclusion that suffering or death is part of "God's plan" make it less important to try to eliminate it for the future?

We're all going to physically die. Countless people die physically every day. One or 220,000 if the dead one is you or someone belonging to you it's all the same.
Physical death marks physical life. |

Not at all. Life is precious and it is great when it can be preserved. Once it is taken though that chapter in that being's timeline is over. They are elsewhere and their body can be re-consumed by Mother Earth. They will, most likely, be back in another form. That is my belief though. I know we all view things different.

I think that you are looking for an Abrahamic or dualist response.
