I was listening to a Christian minister on the radio this morning. He was talking about "not lusting." This led to thinking about "not coveting" and all of the other "nots." Then there is "not mixing dairy products with meat." Has this kind of religion led to neuroticism? Can religion interfere with feeling normal human feelings and make us neurotic?

Do you mean neurotic in the sense that one would be nervous about not being sure if they had done the "nots" ?
Could you please refine your question. |

Yes, the point is to interefer with some normal human feelings. I mean, wanting to kill someone can be very normal, you think about it. But making people neurotic? It could, I suppose, but I think that's more based on the individual.

You don't have to be crazy to believe in God, but it sure helps!

I think that some people go too far in thier ferver, certenly to the point of neurosis...
But I'm not sure that is inherent to the religion. wa:do
