For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord(romans 6;23)makes a lot more sense when the rest of the scripture is quoted .we can only get everlasting life by Jesus christ

I would also say that this refers to both types of death. After all, we are whole beings composed of both material and spiritual aspects. We aren't simply spiritual beings who have assumed a material husk that we may dispose of...the body is central to us, and it is subject to corruption just as much as our spirit is.

How do you know this Soul? If we believe that God will physically resurrect the universe and recreate it, then this isn't a problem. The Resurrection and New Creation are rather important elements of Christianity, and they certainly play into this verse. Paul (the same author who wrote the verse you quoted) even goes so far as to blatantly state we will receive a new body.

James 4:14. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. II Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. I Corinthians 15:50 I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. Hmnnnn??? Maybe our bodies ARE disposable? ![]()
