My philosophy of religion teacher says Morality is Objective mainly because the reasoning holds a stronger argument.
Personally I find the reasoning behind it not that strong but I was hoping we could have a discussion on what you think about this topic.

I don't want to be around when he orders dinner! HooooooWeeeeeeeeeee!
Morality can only be objective when you have a standard. No standard? Then you have subjective standards. The standard for me is God. Your standard might be Nature or even religion. But a standard denotes objectivity.

Yall (the class) need to chip in and buy your prof a dictionary.....
objective by definition has to pretain to an object and subjective to a subject. Or objective things are used to assess that which is tangible and subjective to that which is intangible. That which is tangible is that which can be physcially manifested and falls under objective analysis and that which is intangible is not physcially manifestable but is only conptualizable as a non manisfestation falls under subjective. Unless your prof can physcially describe the characters of what a moral looks like smells like feels like ect or what it would be conceputalized to be manisfested as its intangible and subjective. On the link ....did your prof write that...? It is the same fallacy that Pah pointed out that the ablity to prove love is the same as the ablity to prove God. One (love) is subjective and the other (God ) is objective. |

Well in defense of the Prof. I think he was using the standard as "The Bible" for sake of arguement.
