This is now open to non-christians, and is in the "religious debates forum" thanks to Lightkeeper.
The rules of interpretation and debate, though, have not otherwise changed. No quoting other books of the Bible, except the OT to clarify some reference John makes. All doctrinal assertions must be shown to have existed in the Early Church. All explanations must give the theological reason in John for the interpretation. Said theology must be shown to have existed in the first and second centuries. If you can't do that, then please don't post it. The rules are strict, and it should be fun .

*****MOD POST****** Yaakov. You are off-topic. I suggest you start a thread on this if you want to continue a discussion on the Ecumenical Councils

Quote:
.Just remember to stay on topic. The Ecumenical Councils really aren't that great of an issue in this thread. There are many useful sources on the matter. The Ecumenical Councils weren't that big of a source in my argument, and are a different matter entirely. It would only affect my quote from St. Athanasius. The sole reason St. Athanasius was even quoted was to show the line of reasoning existed in the fourth century also and was used by him in his arguments. I didn't quote the Ecumenical Councils as a source ![]() I would love to discuss this with you because I see some grave misunderstandings of the Councils in it, but please start another thread on it. A discussion of the pros and cons of the Ecumenical Councils is a little beyond the scope of this thread. Thanks, No*s
