Bible for granted.. (atheist, Biblical, Christianity, Christians, Christ)

Many here, especially our good friend t3gah, use the bible as their resource for their argument. Are we taking the Bible for granted, and using it as we wish? Yes I admit I have done it too, but we all have, and perhaps it is being overused as a resource for the various arguments?

But then again, it is the one resource, on topics of Christianity, that Christians share even if their interpretations differ.

Besides what else could we use? Logic would be a great one but unless you make some presumptions somewhere, logic takes you nowhere.

So basically all discussions here would end up being those of the bible, fluffy. Why not join this forum and the Biblical debates forum tgether..

I never gave any thought to unicorns and pixie dust until I heard the atheists discuss these things here. I still don't give them any thought other than the Bible, unicorns and pixie dust are projections of our inner selves.

To be able to derive something so amorphous and ambiguous with such certainty must be a source of ongoing comfort.

I agree that those who wish to make biblical references should keep their points to the biblical debate forum since this seems to be the only difference between the 2. It is a chance to apply other ways of thinking onto the Bible though rather than accepting it and then thinking about it.

I agree. There might be something illogical in assuming its existence though.

But that's what it is for, surely? for nearly every statement in the Bible (as far as I know, not being an expert( - Def:- expert:- a 'has been' under pressure) has a contradictory stament in another part; WE have the choice which way to turn.
