I hear many atheists refer to the OT God. Does anyone actually follow that God? It was my understanding that Christians follow the teachings of Christ.

It is always very unclear as to exactly what Christ's appearence on the scene did to the OT. Views differ from him completely annuling the old laws, altering them, clarifying them or leaving them alone completely.
I think that many Christians would say that they do follow the OT God since if they say they don't then what is the point in having this section to Bible? Further more this radically changes their religion since many rules and morals are drawn from the OT. If you mean, do they follow this God over the NT God then I wouldn't have thought so. My argument would be that the two are one and the same and any difference are just reflections of either our inability to define God in our language or of the beliefs and traditions of the people who wrote the relevant sections.

Personally I do...I believe in the God of the old testament and the Christ our Savior of the new testament. I know I could be wrong but I do view the trinity as Father, Son and Holy Ghost...I pray to all these together...it's just my personal belief. I don't understand why some devalue the God of the old testament due to Christ coming...but I see the God as a father figure, Jesus as my brother and the Holy Spirit as my sort of guide...I can't really explain it to make good sense...perhaps I'm just weird but that's how I see it.

To me, there is only ONE God. Although He has changed in many people's minds, since the OT, there was only one God, and there shall only BE one God.
