Greed denotes excessive. Human beings are naturally possessive. Possessive nature denotes a focus on a singular entity, usually, and most likely attributed to people in regards to emotional stakes in other human beings. It is seen, and essentially a requirement, in relationships. It's also a natural response in regards to objects. Being possessive of one's car or house is not being greedy. Desiring to possess everyone else's car would. Greed would be an excessive display of desiring possessions(noun) as opposed to being possessive(adj.). In a relationship greed would usually be manifested as jealousy or the more disturbing characteristics they make Lifetime movies about.

People are most certainly greedy! They always want more potato chips no matter how many they've eaten.
