Post Infinite happiness and bliss, What is heaven?
This is often quoted as a description of what the afterlife is like for the good guys. (What is heaven like?)
  • How would anyone know what its like?
  • Infinite? Really?
  • Couldnt we already achieve a very similar result with drugs? (We would have to try... but we know some drugs cause bliss and others cause severe time dialation. We could add turning off long term memory and add some hallacucinations and wala...)
  • Wont technology be able to shortly produce such an environment? Think Holodeck?
  • Does your heaven feature crowns?
I was always brought up that god and his kingdom and plan are completely beyond us. We try to get a gist of the overall plan from the bible but its not sufficient. We are created in gods image but without the capactity to see and know as a god does. So we can not know. We have brains and they are funny organs. If we cant know why do so many assume its infinite bliss and happiness?

Yes I might be a bit crass... But I dont buy it. Most people cant tell me what their plans are 7 days from now but of the afterlife and gods plan they have total recall.

What do you think happens when we die?
What is heaven to you personally?
Does your personal view of the afterlife differ from your religious view?
Do you seperate your religious and personal views?

Hi Balance FX, Patrickism defines the spiritual realm of heaven as home. It is the realm in which my soul originated and it is the place where souls go in between physical incarnations. I personally wouldn’t describe it as a paradise but I think we can purpose it to be very "accomodating". I can’t remember what I did while I was there but if this physical experience is any indication, I believe I would have enjoyed a busy existence of creating and helping others.

Infinite is a concept. You can also see it as infinite in time and that is even easier to understand.

Spiritual realm.. Yes... please define and provide evidence. If its personal belief I dont care. At all. If you think its real and more then just your whimsical fantasy of delusion than provide evidence. If you cant then accept the delusion.

Souls? Originating? I have completely lost you.

That is not what people are made of or where they come from. I refuse to discuss the birds and bees with adults and wish people would acknowledge their own personal delusions.

You cant remember... Do you have any concept of memory, how memories are formed and how to recall repressed or forgotten memories? Do you believe memories either persist before you brain is created or after it has died? Do you believe the fundamentals of our economies are strong?

My creator is mom and dad and I spent enough time around them... the human race is a product of evolution. (most likely) and god is a comfort required but ages now past.

Heaven is the sky with stars and planets and is wonderful to behold. A great place to look at. It does comfort me and bring me happiness and is the source of our creation. We came from somewhere out there.

Creator as in a literal person that brought about humans... Umm no. I dont buy it.

I appreciate your contribution to the thread and agree that when we die we will finally be at peace. Forever.

The Bible gives some distinct discriptions of Heaven, I of course have some thoughts of my own. Which I will not go into at this point.

Sure drugs may give us a temporary euphoria, but nothing that will last forever.
Heaven will be for eternity. Happiness and bliss, I'm counting on it.
