Hema, they would agree that they are also sinners, they are not going around pointing out others sins whilst saying they have none. The whole point is that they have been confronted with theirs and have sought forgiveness from God on the basis that Jesus promised that whoever repents & believes in Him would have His sins pardoned and receive eternal life. Having received this pardon from God and being reconciled to Him through Jesus they are going around confronting people with God's law to see if they have broken it and telling them if they are interested how they also can be pardoned and reconciled to God. The idea comes from Pauls words where he says "the Law was a school master to bring me to Christ." Once you have come to Christ the Law has served it's purpose towards you.

The fact is that it's disrespectful to go around telling decent folk that they're not good people just because they don't fit some warped religious view of purity.

They point fingers but seem unwilling to point any blame back towards their own actions. Jesus would have abhored this kind of technique for gaining converts. It is anethema to the teaching of Jesus Christ. I remember him saying, unless it has been deleted by one of these religious nutjobs that, "let those who are without sin cast the first stone." But they cast twenty stones at those who are doing the same sorts of things as they are so that they can feel more righteous about themselves. Jesus didn't say to put yourself above another, either morally or economically, and pray upon the weaknesses of their temptation towards sin. Afterall, wasn't it God who sent the serpent to tempt Adam and Eve into eating the apple, which created sin in the world today? And now he is sending people like Kirk Cameron to undo the actions of that serpent which he sent? The 'Way of the Master' seems to be another serpent sent by the God of creation to move people away from the tree of knowledge and understanding. Let us throw this serpent and his "god" out of our garden and eat of the tree of knowledge. It would be a refreshing change of course...

For me, the meeting would most likely end up in a discussion of what 'good' is; but it would not be offensive. a..1

If Kirk Cameron tried to debate me on the street with this bollox as his thesis I think he'd find himself outmatched. Any of you guys would trounce him, too, in fact. I wouldn't be offended about it, though. It looks like he could do with some schoolin' as far as the Bible and Christianity (in the context of the history of religious belief) is concerned and I am always happy to help. ![]()

Love and shame are alien concepts to these sort of people.

Further to the above, THIS would offend me.
I don't know if you catch what he's doing there, but he's paying a homeless guy 20 bucks to listen to his nonsense, and they're putting up with it, playing along to get their 20 bucks so they can get something to eat. (Or drink, more likely). So now you know. If people seem to be agreeing with him, it's cuz it's an easy way to earn 20 bucks. I'm offended to see that Kirk is preying on people in need in order to advance his religious vanity. Jesus would have wept.
