Oh, Jesus... Why don't you just admit you don't have an answer to the question and spare yourself the embarrassment?

And the Lord says: Mat 26:28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 2Co 3:6 who also has made us able ministers of the new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit makes alive. Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, He said to them, "Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, and I will make an end on the house of Israel and on the house of Judah; a new covenant shall be, Heb 8:13 In that He says, A new covenant, He has made the first one old. Now that which decays and becomes old is ready to vanish away. Act 2:18 And in those days I will pour out My Spirit upon My slaves and My slave women, and they shall prophesy. |

Let's stick to the topic -- the Abrahamic God of the Bible, and slavery.

It's amazing what faith can do to the unlearnt. They read the lines but can't see the words. Jeremiah 31:31 - "...a New Covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah..." Then, their mouths say: "That's a covenant with Christians." Where the hell is the word "Christian" in Jeremiah 31:31? Then, they go to the NT to say that God will make an end of the House of Judah with complete disregard to Jeremiah 31:35 that to make an end of Judah, God will have also to make an end of the sun and the moon, and of the stars. I do rest my case! Ben ![]() |

When you read EX 21 there is some stuff about slavery and it kind of gives God a very bad name. A father can sell a daughter into slavery to pay a debt. A slave owner is punished if he stricks his slave and the slave dies shortly thereafter but if the slave lives a day or two then dies the slave owner in NOT punished. In the NT Jesus didn't say one word against slavery. Strange ideas here. arlan

Greetings!
IOV religion is progressive, and slavery is something that was once permitted but is now not! It's clear, for example, that the Jewish and Christian scriptures permitted slavery. Islam permitted it, but with restrictions. And the Baha'i Faith prohibits it entirely. So there is progress! Best, :-) Bruce |
