It's not as if anybody is saying "well gee... he COULD be the messiah, if only he came from the right family"... no. The world peace... the third temple... all nations uniting to serve the one true God.... since none of this has happened, we conclude that the messiah hasn't come. This means: there has not yet been on this earth fulfillment of messianic prophecy. Then of course, we can always talk about the problems with the genealogies of Matthew and Luke to show why Jesus isn't a legitimate heir to David's throne... but the above paragraphs should not go ignored. |

For every wicked Saul there was a righteous David... for every wicked Ahaz there was a righteous Hezekiah. There was a Babylonian exile.... followed by the REBUILDING OF JERUSALEM... rebuilding of the holy temple...a return to righteousness... (read Ezra and Nehemiah sometime) ... exile and ingathering... exile and ingathering. Jewish history consists of being told that we will suffer for some period of time, and then be redeemed and taken out of the house of our oppressors. It happened in Egypt. It happened in Israel. It happened in Babylonia. It happened in Persia.... We are currently in an exile that we've been told we will be redeemed from. The first Christians, in my opinion, gave up hope... just like those in the desert who cried "Why have you taken us out of Egypt so that we may die in the wilderness?" Jews are still waiting faithfully for God to follow through with His promise. |

That's not very nice. There was a question asked, and I answered it. If you feel that I'm wrong, try and show me how/why.
No need for personal attacks. My view may be controversial to you.... and instead of dealing with it like a reasonable person... you deal with it like a child. I was hoping this could be a meaningful discussion... I hope you don't prevent that from happening. |

As did countless hundreds of others. How many of them are called "Messiah"? I bet Jesus had a left foot and a right foot... and hair... |

The virgin will be with child and will givve birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel - which means, "God with us." But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for our of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel. Out of Egypt I called my son. He will be called a Nazarene. A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.' Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles - the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases. Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory. In his name the nations will put their hope. I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world. These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men. Say to the Daughter of Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.' The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. They took thirty silver coins, the price set on him by the people of Israel, and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me. I highlighted the famous Isaiah passage, because it so contradicts the popular Jewish notion of what the Messiah should look like. It, more than any other prophecy, seems to embody the very idea of Jesus's life.
