What's the relationship of sex to spirituality? Is sex a means to spirituality? Is it a distraction from spirituality? What do you think?

If properly handled it can be way to heighten one's spiritual connection to your partner and to God, but mistreatment is one of the quikest ways to distance yourself.

Sex is a gift from God. In the beggining Mankind was well commanded to have have children and there is only one way I know of to accomplish that goal. "Be fruitful and multiply." was said by God and Because God is spirit, Sexuality is a part of spirituality

I do not think that sex increases your spirituality or your connection with GOD (no matter how impaired mrscarrdero thinks GOD’s hearing is). In my personal opinion I think the development of spirituality and physicality may be separate.

Dan, I find myself in some agreement with you. Hell must have frozen over. I think sexuality can heighten or lead to a feeling of one's connectedness to all things, and that mistreatment of sex is one of the quickest ways to distance yourself from that connnectedness, to isolate yourself from others and from all things.

Does pain (or any other physical sensation) elevate our connection to GOD or does it ground us to our humanity?

Does masturbation bring us closer to a Supreme BEing and if so how many people are actually sharing an apartment with GOD right now?

Pain tends to focus us on ourselves, isolating us. To the extent that pain emotionally isolates, it deprives us of our sensitivity to others and to the things of this world. How can that isolation be spiritual? Isn't spirituality dependent on a feeling of connectedness to all things?

I think that to say so would assume that sex itself and not the quality of sex were enough to create a feeling of connnectedness. That is an assumption that I would be unwilling to make.

By "realms" do you mean the material/spiritual? If so, then in the first place, I don't think there is a genuine division between the material and the spiritual.

If masturbation necessarily brought us greater spirituality, then most everyone would be a saint by now.

But there has to be something to tie the together. That's why people fast; because it can heighten their spiritual sensitivities. Sex is excercising the very power of God.
