The priority is to defend the vulnerable and the meek from persecution and death.

From the criminal scum that terrorise our cities to the violent nazi/bigoted filth that infect our societies.

I do not concur...you and yours are mine also and anyone who hurts my (any) innocent family will (or should) pay dearly, while I and those like me draw breath.

How much mercy do you propose we give the merciless? Harsher crimes warrant harsher punishment; where do we draw the line on both acceptable behaviors and acceptable punishments?

Why should we show mercy to those who have shown none? Are they better than us as to be above us?
No, most people say show mercy because God told them its right. If they show no mercy in the first place, what is a 2nd chance going to do?
Mercy is weakness, people are aware of the consequences of their actions, hence, if they are not prepared to accept them they should consider their actions beforehand.
