Mormons, do you agree with the churches decision in this case? |

Amazing.

Why wouldn't the Mormon administration want us to know what day it is?
I find the whole event discriminatory. Where is the women missionary calendar? |

For some reason, I feel there is going to be a missionary position joke somewhere in this thread.
As for the article, I can see both sides. A church has every right decide what to put out, but I think excommunicating the guy is really harsh for what he did. ~matthew.william~

I think they stepped over the line. But the guy did think it was the best decision for both parties.

I feel that excommunication is too harsh and an abuse of "authority" in most cases.

If the mormon church wants to sway people to join their ranks, it should probably be mindful of how it is perceived by the outside world. This prudish knee jerk reaction over so something rather tame and silly will likely turn potential converts off from their church.

FYI: A previous article mentioned that there was more to this story. He was facing discipline for more than a calendar. Disciplinary councils are confidential so we'll never know the whole story.
If it was just for the calendar then I would disagree with it. |

I think excommunication was a little extreme. Maybe just sent home from his mission - returning home without honor was probably enough in LDS circles. Now he if wants full fellowship, he'll have to be rebaptized, confirmed, priesthood ordinations and re-endowed in the temple. That's alot of hops over a single picture - a nice one, I might add
