The pill is not an abortifact it does not terminate a pregnancy it prevents the egg from attaching to the uterine wall thus no pregnancy can occur....

pregnancy begins when a fertilized egg embeds itself in the uterine wall...no implantation no pregnancy... no pregnancy no abortion.

you must be thinking of RU486.... not the birth control pill and not the 'morning after pill' called PlanB.

I see, I thought it prevented the egg from becoming fertitized at all. But then I've never used the pill lol. But I still don't see what the problem would be with that. A fertilized egg cannot survive if it does not attach to the uterine wall, and many times does not on it's own and is eliminated with the menstrual cycle anyway. At this point, it's just a cluster of cells.

Some formulations of the oral contraceptive medicine have little or no estrogen. Estorgen is targeted at ovulation.The inclusion of progesterone at differing strengths produces different effects one of which is change to the endometruim causing the loss of a zygote. Though not touted as a "morning after" pill as the French import is, it does have that effect.

The pill is labeled an abortifacient because it will work not allow a fertilized egg to maintian implantation onto the uterine wall. As a result, most anti-choice individuals oppose the pill (not to be confused with RU 486) and IUD because a fertilied egg (in their eyes) from the moment of conception becomes life and interfering with it is murder.
