Is there any sense in which something as wide in scope as religion can be spoken of in general terms? Are there useful or accurate ways that religion can be generalised?

I'm just a wee bit curious. Any thoughts are welcome.

I don't think that religions innately encourage ignorance, but I think that like any system of thought they can be twisted into something that does.

Am sure you remember someone who said * Religion is the Opium of the people*
But then it is important for individual to exhaust their mind by ex pressing their views.
This way they will themselves come to face with what is reality and what is not.
If someone like you is reading or thinking about such things is all that evry speakers wants and needs.
