I read the suggestion today that the orthodox Christian view of resurrection expresses in symbolic language the conviction that human life is inseperable from bodily experience. Is this the case?

One might say that the full person is one of body and flesh, that the body is not just a vessel or carrier of the person, but is a vital component in the whole of what God intends us to be.
For this reason, God saves the flesh by himself becoming flesh in Christ. Though sin has alienated the spirit's natural relations to the body, creating an inner tension, this kind of dualism is promised to be resolved through Christ and the resolution will culminate in the end of time.

I've never heard it phrased just that way but I like it. I think people often do lose sight of value the Christian faith puts on our whole self, that our body is part of our soul, and that it is good.

Jesus is resurrected with a physical body
Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. It seems the fallen angels are not allowed bodies - they envy not being able to have one, would rather posess a herd of swine than go back to not having a body if I recall. I love the taste of chocolate, the wind in my hair, the ability to give someone a hug, the ability to do something for another - besides just talking to them - to make them something, or give a backrub - without matter, you can't do much but talk...
