Yeah, that's true. I guess I wasn't thinking when I posted that. I'm sure there are a lot of guilt ridden, self loathing gays. It's pretty sad and unfortunate.

Ted Haggard comes to mind.

I would ask him about his stance on all this? What he wants to do and if he thinks he needs any help or not, what kind of help...etc. What can I offer to my child? The most important thing (I believe); the spiritual help. I'll make sure he understands very well that he should not be a slave to any desire but he must be the master of his own self and his own desires directing them to the way that pleases His God and that this is a test from God and he must pass this test. I'll encourage him to pray more, fast, read the Qur'an and books about spirituality, listen to lectures, go to the mosque, acquire good friends who will help him to become closer to Allah. I'll encourage him to improve His relationship with His God. The second thing; I'll get for him a psychological help. I also will make sure that all members of the family stand beside him providing a warm and encouraging family environment. I'll encourage him to fulfill his potentials and talents and occupy his time with useful activities. The last thing I'll pray for him. Of course all what I have said is from an unprofessional point of view.

Good luck finding a licensed psychiatrist to treat him since homosexuality isn't considered a mental disease by any reputable professionals. Although I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could find a quack who could cause him some emotional/psychological damage while attempting to "heal" him.

![]() I forgot to add that stories of those who overcame homosexuality would be inspirations for my child during his struggle and a hope for change.

No doubt with spells, incantations, talismans, potions and elixirs.
