Sexual morality rates very highly amongst the christians I know. Sex bad:abstinence good is the message I get. Are they just idiots? Or does god desire that we don't enjoy such pleasures?

Not all Christians have such a dismal and childish view of sexuality as those Christians you know, Truthseekingsoul. About 85% of the U.S. population identifies themselves as Christian and about 90% of the U.S. population wants their kids taught comprehensive sexuality education. Those stats don't seem to indicate that most Christians are childish simpletons when it comes to human sexuality.
Having said that, I think there is a clear anhedonist (anti-pleasure) streak in parts of the Bible and among a minority of Christians. Anhedonism is also a classic symptom of depression, and I would not be surprised if there were a link between the anhedonism of some Christians (or some Biblical authors) and the pathology of depression. The implication of all this is that some folks interpretation of what their God wants for us might be influenced by psychiatric illnesses.

Well, I think Christianity can be a bit weird about sex in some ways, but no, of course most Christians aren't idiots. And you are allowed to enjoy sex when it's in marriage.

Emu's got something here i think...HaShem doesn't want us to deny our sexual desires, just to maintain some control over them so they don't get out of hand. He did tell us to be fruitful and multiply...in fact it's the duty of the husband to give sexual satisfaction to his wife

It is implied that we do not abuse the act of lovemaking and/or engage in lust.
It was intended to be enjoyed by people that share love for one another. |

I don't fit the qualifications
to sign up.getiin back in. I believe God made each of us with our um anatomy so that we can share the love of each other and give the gift of life. Basically create new generations in the cycle of life. |
