Just a question that popped up.
Do you(theists) become upset when someone rejects your idea of God? Do you (atheists) become upset when someone rejects your idea that there is no God? Does it not upset you? If it does upset you, why is that? If it doesn't upset you, why not?

Personally speaking, I am not offended in the slightest.
I do, however, take great offense when someone (atheist, agnostic, theist, deist, etc.) assumes that they hold the only answer and tells the rest of us that we are wrong. This is most usually compounded by theists that use their preferred religous text to substantiate their claim.

I'm not offended by ideas that contradict mine --they're just different ideas. The only time I might get offended is when someone presumes ideas as mine that are ones I've never even thought to think.

I'm not offended. I recognize that everyone has their own ideas and experiences, and they don't have to share mine in order to validate myself. Not to mention that different experiences are going to lead people in very different directions, to me it would be absurd to expect every single person to reach the same conclusion.

It depends how the rejection is stated, if the person just says "I don't believe that" or I don't accept that as true" then I wouldn't be offended. But if people called my beliefs/ideas idiotic and made fun of them then I would be a little hurt |
