I was watching YouTube today and came across these back and forth videos between a strong Christian (VenomfangX) and a strong Athiest (TheAmazingAthiest). At the very end of the video by VenomfangX, he says "If you're a Muslim, repent or burn in hell."
(YouTube - Islam and Muslims and Allah, Oh My!) He is proving the Islamic religion false in his mind. He even has a video. (YouTube - Proving Islam wrong). Now, in my mind, I can't believe how close-minded some people are and intolerant! It's mindboggling! From what RabidApe from YouTube says in his video, (YouTube - Open Letter to VenomFangX), Could you accept the possibility you are wrong in your beliefs? And if you can't accept that possibility, why?

I think religious criticism isn't needed period. In my opinion, we should all have and express our beliefs but not turn them against people. Even if my beliefs were wrong, I wouldn't stop believing because some punk kid said i need to repent now or die. Screw him! Everyone deserves to believe in whatever they want, whether it's already made, or made up on the spot.

We ALL need to examine our beliefs and see what, if anything, is holding them on solid ground. If you must refer back to a book for truth, than you could very well miss the truth of things that is before your face right here and now. Truth can stand by itself without the need of a book to extol its greatness....

I can and will accept it if I am wrong. If I do not I am a dishonest person. Period. Plus the Quran constantly tells non-believers to use their reasoning ... so how on Earth can I, as a believer, not use reasoning.
Imagine God punishing me for being honest ... I would NOT like to worship that God.

Far more worrying for me is the way that parents and clergy in all the major religions take small children and brainwash them. In many cases this brainwashing of children is state sponsored. It makes me very very angry.

Ideally, if there IS one true religion, then everyone should have the ability to speak their beliefs clearly and concisely, without a need to get defensive, because if you have confidence in your own beliefs, why would you get defensive?...
I think there is this modern notion within Christianity that it is our job to convert people, but last time I checked, that was God's job. Christ told his disciples to 'preach' and to 'spread' the Good News, not getting angry when people don't believe what you want them to believe. So this guy should just speak his beliefs (instead of his mind) and then just shut up until he's asked a question.

Actually, I never assume that my beliefs are correct. They are "under construction", as it were, and are continually being changed and modified. Beliefs that resist adaptation are beliefs that will ultimately succeed in closing the mind with a rather large padlock attached. This would have a tendency to block further understanding in any meaningful terms. What I don't think many realize is that "faith" is the padlock, as it can override reasoning altogether.

I do not get angry when someone disagrees with me (well, I might get a bit irritated) for a reason I do not understand. I usually end arguments when I see they are going in a circle.
But I do feel sad ... very sad ... as you can see in my signature ... it pains me how on Earth I should share the treasure. This sadness inspires (with a slight bit of forcing) tears in my eyes with prayers that "If I am wrong please make me understand but if they are wrong please make them understand ... I do not care if I have to take up Judaism or Taoism as my religion as long as I am where You are God."
