The BoM does not contradict the Bible, as long as the Bible is understood correctly.

Moroni 10:32 "Come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny youselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God."

When Christ came to earth, the Jews were practicing a corrupted form of the Law of Moses. The Law of Moses was a preparatory law to prepare the people for the higher law of Christ. It involved many physical rites or actions, which eventually came to be the ONLY requirements. The people were relying on those works to show their goodness before men. They were living the letter of the law, but not the spirit of the law. Remember how bent out of shape the Pharisees were when Christ healed the sick on the Sabbath? They were overly concerned with the rules, but deadened to the true spirit of God.
Christ said he did not come to destroy the Law of Moses, but to fulfill it. And he taught them that the works alone will not save them. They must have humble spirits, faith, love, in addition to the necessary "works", including the ordinances, such as baptism.

IOW, there is a balance between works and grace. We don't throw out either one in deference to the other. Just as it was wrong for the ancient Jews to ignore grace, it is wrong to go to the other extreem and ignore works. Both are important, just as it plainly says in James.

It's really not complicated.
Galatians chapter 2 - Holy Bible and the Apostle Paul

"We who are Jews by birth and not 'Gentile sinners' know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.

"If, while we seek to be justified in Christ, it becomes evident that we ourselves are sinners, does that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! If I rebuild what I destroyed, I prove that I am a lawbreaker. For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"

John 6 - The Words of Jesus

Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"

Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

Romans 3 - 4 - The Holy Bible

Righteousness Through Faith

But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

Romans 4

Abraham Justified by Faith

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, discovered in this matter? If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God. What does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."

Now when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift, but as an obligation. However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

"Blessed are they
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man
whose sin the Lord will never count against him."

If the Book of Mormon teaches the same things as the Bible, it's a "copycat." Sounds to me as if we're damned if we do and we're damned if we don't. The only way some people are going to stop finding fault with the Book of Mormon is if it simply ceases to exist.

Please go to the opening thread. We have a comparison of the Book of Mormon and the Bible. The verses are very similar with major theological changes. The change in the Book of Mormon changes the gospel of God's grace according to the Holy Bible alone. Just try to look at it objectively.

Here's the opening thread:

Quote:
This thread is a personal obeservation from a post of Madhatter. He quoted the Book of Mormon and it reminded me of two verses in the Bible. If you compare the verses from the Book of Mormon with the Holy Bible, it appears that the Book of Mormon is trying to change the central biblical truth of the gospel of grace. Please look for yourself and decide.

Quote:
Quote: Madhatter
2nd Nephi 25: - Book of Mormon

23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.

Mormon 9: - The Book of Mormon

27 O then despise not, and wonder not, but hearken unto the words of the Lord, and ask the Father in the name of Jesus for what things soever ye shall stand in need. Doubt not, but be believing, and begin as in times of old, and come unto the Lord with all your heart, and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling before him.

Please compare the Book of Mormon above and the Holy Bible below. The Book of Mormon tries to change the central truth of the Holy Bible by copying bible verses with intentional significant changes.

Ephesians 2:8-9: - Holy Bible - Apostle Paul

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. - NIV

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. - KJV

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. - NASB

Philippians 2:12-13: Holy Bible - Apostle Paul

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose - NIV

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. - KJV

Are you really saying before God that you cannot see the theological differences in the opening thread, comparing the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible with similar verses with slight modification that changes the gospel of God's grace according to the Apostle Paul?
